Are you struggling to understand the different tenses in English? Then welcome to Learn English with Natalie, the place where you are going to finally understand how to use the past, present and future tense in English. Make sure you subscribe so that you don't miss out on any information of this mini topic, where I go through the different tenses in English and I'm doing that in short, manageable chunks, so that you actually remember the information that I give to you Now. Today we're going to be talking about the future tense. My past couple of episodes. I've spoken about the past tense and the present tense, so make sure you check them out so that you can cover all bases. So let's get into the future tense. Why do we use this? The future tense is used to talk about plans, what you're going to be doing in the future, what you intend to do, predictions, what you think will happen and promises or decisions that you are making. So today, looking at the future tense, we're going to be looking at the word will in the future tense and how that helps us to build future tense sentences. So when we're using the word will, this is what the structure of our sentence will look like. We will have our subject, which is I, you, she, he, they, it. Then you will have the word will and then you will have the base verb. So when to use will? We can use it for predictions, for example, it will rain tomorrow or she will win the competition. We can use it for spontaneous decisions like I will call you later or we will order pizza. And we can use it for promises. It will help you with your homework. He will never tell anyone your secret. Now this week's lesson is a little bit easier because guess what? I've got an English top tip for you, which is really easy this week. If you were talking about I, you, he, she, they or it, they all just use the word will and the base verb. We don't need to change any of those filler words in between this week, which I'm sure is music to your ears. So let's have a practice of some sentences. My turn I will call you tomorrow. Your turn, fantastic. She will finish her homework by tonight. Your turn, excellent. They will travel to Italy next summer. Your turn, wonderful. He will help you with your project. Your turn, fantastic. We will attend the concert next weekend. Your turn, brilliant. Now we're going to change it a little bit and we're going to ask some questions with will Now. To do this, we put the will at the start, then the subject you, he, I then the base verb. Here's an example Will you join us for lunch? Will subject you, base verb join. Will you join us for lunch? Here's another example will. Subject she, will, she verb. Will she finish her project on time? Will she finish her project on time? Now, if I want to turn these into a statement, I just flip the subject and the word will around, so will she finish her project on time becomes she will finish her project on time. Let's practice using will in some questions. My turn Will she travel next week? Your turn, excellent. Will they help us with the project? Your turn, fantastic. Will he join the football team? Your turn, fantastic. Will he join the football team? Your turn, lovely. Will you take the train tomorrow? Your turn, fantastic. Will the meeting start at 3pm? Your turn, wonderful. You're really getting the hang of this now.
Speaker 1:Okay, it's just a short episode this week. I don't want to overstimulate you with too much information. So for your activity this week, I want you to write a list of all the things that you will do this week. I will. I will go to the gym. I will go to work I and then maybe, if you want to challenge yourself, you might use some different subjects. She will, he will, they will. And then I want you to write a list of five questions that you will ask your friend about their upcoming week. Will you go to the cinema on Tuesday, for example?
